The American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS), announces its collaboration with the internationally distinguished Surgeon-Ophthalmologist, Dr Nikolaos Trakos, specialized in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Eye and Periocular Region Surgery.
Patients will have the opportunity to be examined by Dr. Trakos in the fully equipped with the latest technology digital diagnostic equipment medical praxis at AIMIS Institute premises in Limassol. Dr Trakoscan consult patients with the entire range of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and Surgical Ophthalmology diseases, including Eyelid Surgery, Lacrimal system and orbit, as well as oncological cases.
Dr Trakos was retrained and specialised in Mayo Clinic of the United States. He studied at the Medical School of the University of Patras and he enriched his clinical experience with a training at the Cambridge Medical School in the UK. He began his research at the Medical School of Lund, Sweden. He completed the first part of his specialty in the Ophthalmology Clinic of the University Hospital of Ioannina and his second part in England with further specialization as a Clinical Fellow at the Maidstone Hospital of Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom, under the auspices of the Royal College of Ophthalmology.
He completed three Fellowship programs in the specialty of Ophthalmic Plastic &Reconstructive Surgery (Oculoplastics). The main Fellowship program was at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, applying surgical techniques to eyelid, lacrimal gland and orbit diseases. He continued his Fellowship as a Clinical Fellow in the Corneo-Plastic Unit of Queen Victoria Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic, in the United Kingdom. In the USA he also worked in Private Centers in Beverly Hills and Palm Springs in Los Angeles, USA.
He is a PhD of the Medical School of Ioannina, President of the International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye, and an Instructor at the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He returned to Greece in 2007, bringing innovative, introspective and minimally invasive techniques and he took over the direction of the Department of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Ygeia Hospital in Athens. Dr Trakosapplies the most specialized techniques for the treatment of blepharoptosis, blepharospasm, exophthalmus, orbicular grafts insertion to create artificial eyes, surgical removal and repair of tumors of the eye, eyelids and orbit, dry eye syndrome and lacrimation with the most modern endoscopic techniques such as endoscopic ascorinostomy.
